The governing body at Barrow Hall Primary School is made up of people with different skills who combined give a more rounded input to the school. They represent some of the different parties with vested interest in the school including parents, staff, members of the local community and the local authority all of whom have a focus on the continuing success of the school.

Chris joined the Governing Body as a Parent Governor in March 2010, becoming Vice Chair in September 2012 and Chair in 2014 . He has lived in Whittle Hall
for 17 years and has two daughters, one at Barrow Hall and one at Great Sankey High School. Chris is a fair weather cyclist and enjoys supporting
the school in any way he can.

Mike joined the Governing Body in 2008 when his daughter started at the school. Born and bred in Great Sankey, Michael attended local schools, and is a time served multi-skilled engineer with 20+ years’ service. Also father to two boys, one who is at the school, Mike has completed a full term of office as a Governor and is now undertaking his second. It is his wish to improve the school with the aid of his professional skills to make it the safest and most enjoyable educational environment it can be.

John joined Barrow Hall as Headteacher in 2013, his previous post was Headteacher at Locking Stumps Primary School in Birchwood, a position he held for over ten years. Prior to this, he was Deputy Headteacher at Locking Stumps and taught at two primary schools in Widnes. John has two children, Billy and Eva, and spends any spare time he has indulging his obsession with Manchester United.

Jane is Deputy Head teacher at the school and has worked at Barrow Hall for over 20 years. She has been a member of the Governing Body in various capacities for far too long to remember. Jane’s ties and commitment to the school extend beyond being in a professional capacity, she has had both her children attend the school before moving onto the high school. Consequently, Barrow Hall has very much been more a way of life than a ‘job’ and Jane is passionate about doing the best for all the children and families associated with the school.

Lesley joined the Governing Body in September 2012. She is a lifelong resident of Great Sankey, a former pupil of the school and also has two girls in the school. Barrow Hall has been a big part of Lesley’s life and is a place she is very passionate about.  Lesley has a career history in marketing and prior to that administration and now works at Barrow Hall as a Teaching Assistant. Lesley wants the very best for the children at the school and enjoys being part of a team which supports and challenges the school to be the best it can be.

Aswad joined the governing body as a parent governor in March 2010. He has lived in Great Sankey for more than 15 years, is married and father of two boys, who have attended the school and now moved onto high school. Aswad works in a Sales/Commercial role within the IT industry, he has recently started playing golf and also enjoys watching football and cricket. Aswad is passionate about the school and committed to ensuring that the school environment is enjoyable and a rewarding experience for the children and staff, enabling the children to fulfil their potential.

Kathryn has been a Governor since 2010 and in this time has been involved in various aspects of school governance and all of the committees. She has two boys who have attended the school and now moved onto high school. She aims to take an active part in school life whenever possible. Prior to joining the governing body she was Chair of the Friends of Barrow Hall.

Kathryn has been a teacher in secondary schools, a lecturer of IT in a college and prior to that she had many years experience working in the IT industry. Currently she is self employed with her own small business. Kathryn aims to challenge and support the school in its improvement plans, and is looking forward to a bright future for Barrow Hall Primary School.

malcolmMalcolm MacIntosh

Malcolm joined the Governing Body as a Parent Governor in 2012. He has lived in the Penketh and Great Sankey area for over 43 years and his children attended Barrow Hall. A grandfather now, one of his grandsons attends the school. Malcolm enjoys his role as a governor supporting the school in the many challenges ahead.

Julie works as the Governor Services Manager in Trafford where she manages clerking services and training for governors in around 100 schools and academies. Julie was keen to be a Governor at a school close to home (Altrincham) and after applying to Warrington was delighted to be appointed as a Local Authority Governor at Barrow Hall.  She has subsequently become a Co-opted Governor.

Julie enjoys working with the other Governors to ensure that we support the staff and make our decisions in the best interests of the children at the school. Julie was previously Trustee of a multi level collaboration of schools and has a career history in marketing and business development. She has two children, her daughter is autistic and attends a Special School so she has a personal interest and awareness of SEN issues. Julie enjoys being a part of the school community.

Michael Scott

Michael joined the Governing Body as a Parent Governor in March 2015.  By day he is Deputy Headteacher in a large high school. He has experience raising standards and achievement in secondary schools and is a Specialist Leader of Education for the National College, where he supports schools with curriculum reviews, data analysis and timetabling.  Michael is pleased to have the opportunity to learn more about the primary sector and currently sits on the Standards Committee.

Both of his children are at the school.

Outside of work, Michael is a keen musician and has played the piano for over 30 years. He regularly directs musicals for local societies and also keeps his mind active writing timetables for schools across the country.

Julie Page

Julie joined the Governing Body in September 2016. A resident of Great Sankey, and a former pupil of Barrow Hall, Julie is keen to be part of a team that promotes learning and encourages children to reach their full potential on their school journey. With a Master’s Degree in Child Psychology and a career history in social research, Julie is keen to use her valuable skills, knowledge and experience in the role of Governor to support the school to be the best it can be.
 
David Hughes

David joined the Governing Body in December 2016. He has two children, one of which is at Barrow Hall.  David is an Assistant Headteacher in a secondary school and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Sixth Form. Being a teacher he understands education and believes in the importance of giving every child the best chance to fulfil their potential. He joined the governing body at Barrow Hall to help and support the school in becoming, and remaining, the top performing primary in the region. As a teacher of drama he sees great value in providing students with a wide and varied curriculum and opportunities beyond the classroom.
David is a keen charity fundraiser and has taken part in events to raise money for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and Reach Charity, an organisation for children with upper limb differences. He and his family like holidaying in the Lake District and France and like to spend their weekends exploring National Trust properties such as Speke Hall and Dunham Massey.
