Headmaster
This is the start of my 18th year as Head of Barrow Hall C.P. and I am no less proud of the school, its pupils and staff, than I was back in September 1993.
School has changed a lot in this period, in fact the whole education process has undergone a "wind of change" during my headship at Barrow Hall :
- Literacy Hour
- Numeracy hour
- League tables
- ICT in schools
- Performance targets&. the list is endless.......
Some things remain constant however :
- Polite children (nearly always!) who enjoy coming to school
- Dedicated staff who care about our pupils' welfare and their academic progress
- Supportive parents who are actively involved in the life of the school.
- A happy atmosphere within school that makes everyone who comes to Barrow Hall feel.....
"... secure, be valued and (want) to learn"
Last year we maintained our traditionally high academic standards and have added to that by up profiling our life skills curriculum which has always formed a key part of life at Barrow Hall. Last year we went through a successful Ofsted, we acheived Artsmark, had a whole school performance at the Parr Hall at Christmas, acquired new school classroom accommodation and had a "best ever year" for sporting achievement. Other recent developments include a link club on school premises, a Virtual Learning Plaform for parents and pupils and all 150 Y5 and Y6 pupils having their own computer to take home as required.
We aim to develop all pupils to their maximum potential and must always live up to that standard.
Let's get on with it !!!
