Key Stage 2

In Key Stage 2 there are currently around 300 children organised into ten classes. From September 2009 they will be arranged as follows:

  • Class 1D (Mrs Birkett) Y6
  • Class 2D (Mr MacKenzie)  Y6
  • Class 3D (Mr Shaw)  Y6
  • Class 4D (Miss Ramage)  Y3
  • Class 5D (Mrs Whitticombe was Miss Doherty)  Y3

  • Class 1U (Mrs Roper) Y4
  • Class 2U (Miss Sumner) Y4/5
  • Class 3U (Mr Gibbons) Y4
  • Class 4U (Mrs Fillingham) Y5
  • Class 5U (Mr Artingstall) Y5

Our aim is to give every child a strong education whilst at the same time developing the child as a person. We aim to ensure that every child who leaves Key Stage 2 has a positive self image and is a willing, self-motivated learner with the skills to succeed in Key Stage 3 and beyond.

The pastoral care of the child is something that we as a staff feel strongly about and this is reflected in our mission statement:

"We are here to feel secure, be valued
and to learn"

Three years ago we introduced the idea of a "Creative Curriculum" for the teaching of Foundation Subjects and this has proved to be a great success. We will continue to do so this year.

We also have very strong links with Great Sankey High School, which is situated next door, and work hard to ensure that the child's transition to the high school is a smooth one.
